Job Posting — Mechanical Engineer Specializing in Plant Mechanical Components, Design and Systems

The seal division is dedicated to the design and development of the Kalsi Seal which are used in downhole and surface drilling equipment and mining equipment. Scope of Responsibilities

This position is primarily for the consulting division. Responsibilities include working both on individual and team consulting projects. Type of projects include system design calculations, component calculations, root-cause investigation, failure analysis, design review, design modification development, testing, training, engineering program development, and general engineering support. Development of detailed and formal documentation of project results is a significant part of the job.

Background and Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S.M.E.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Capable of performing component sizing and system design calculations
  • Knowledgeable in:
    • Power plant systems, design specifications, mechanical system design basis and operational requirements.
    • Root cause analysis, causal analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
    • Pumps, valves (Air Operated Valves (AOVs), Motor Operated Valves (MOVs), check valves, relief valves, etc.), and other mechanical equipment (turbines, pumps, motors, compressors, heat exchangers, etc.)
  • Power generation or process plant experience with engineering programs, maintenance, condition monitoring, and testing
  • Experience in application of Codes: (ASME pressure vessel code, ASME Operations and Maintenance code, ANSI/ASME B16 & B31, API Standards, and application of other codes)
  • Mechanical or structural design capabilities
  • High proficiency of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Project management experience: project team lead and team member.
  • Excellent technical writing/communicating skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be a positive:

  • Navy nuclear experience
  • Commercial nuclear operation
  • Laboratory testing
  • Computational fluid dynamics
  • Fluid-structure interaction
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
  • Commercial grade dedication and equipment qualification
  • Working knowledge in developing 3-D solid models using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools
  • Working knowledge with Mathcad, Matlab, or similar tools.
  • Professional engineering license
