KVAP training course is announced for August 15-18, 2017


Kalsi Engineering, Inc. will host a KVAP Training Course on August 15-18, 2017 at our facility in Sugar Land, Texas for utilities that have licensed KVAP.

KVAP™, the Kalsi Valve & Actuator Program, is state-of-the-art software that can evaluate all common types of linear and quarter-turn valves and operators used in air-operated valves (AOVs) and motor-operated valves (MOVs).  KVAP is the premier analysis software in the nuclear industry and the only software in the industry based on extensive flow loop testing conducted per 10CFR50 Appendix B nuclear quality assurance (QA) requirements. KVAP software is being actively expanded to meet industry needs.  This software is especially cost effective to the owner as it maintains, updates, and refines past AOV and MOV calculations.  New features and functionality are continually added to KVAP based on feedback from its large users group. Many users have efficiently and cost-effectively migrated from other industry AOV or MOV software to KVAP.

KVAP Software provides validated design basis predictions based on extensive flow loop testing (see Figures 1 and 2) performed under a 10CFR50 Appendix B nuclear QA program to meet ASME Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Code Mandatory Appendices III and IV requirements.  KVAP software includes validated position accurate torque and flow coefficients for all common types of quarter-turn valves that were determined from flow loop testing, which overcomes the applicability limitations present in other industry software.  This makes KVAP an essential tool for nuclear power plant engineers for reliable and accurate design basis calculations.

Based on the advanced, validated models in KVAP, many users have reported savings by avoiding unwarranted equipment replacement in valves previously determined to have negative or low margins, reduced radiation exposure (ALARA), and elimination of in-plant dynamic testing requirements. The enhanced models in KVAP also potentially yield increased MOV margins that can allow extended periodic verification test intervals. KVAP software was developed by a team of Kalsi specialists who are recognized as leaders in the industry for technological advances in AOVs and MOVs, and for providing stability and continuity of service to our clients. The software is backed by comprehensive training and technical support offered by this highly capable KVAP team.
